We kindly ask to be informed of any allergies we need to be aware of in advance of your visit.

We always do our best to accommodate mild allergies but cannot guarantee that we work in a nut, dairy, gluten or allergen-free environment given the complexity of our menu.

Our menu is mainly meat and fish lead however there are limited options available for vegetarians and vegans.

Make your experience extra special and book a seat at our Chef’s Counter, the best seat in the house – where guests can enjoy our menu that’s all about cooking over an open fire where everything is fuelled by local wood and charcoal. Expect large cuts of local meat and fish, expertly charred over bespoke rotisserie and wood-fired grill while watching the chefs in action.

Absolutely no dress code. Feel free to dress up if you like but don’t feel obliged. Whatever makes you comfortable so you can enjoy your experience.

We are happy to accept walk-in guests at any time, depending on availability. We strongly recommend making a prior reservation to avoid disappointment as availability can be very limited.

At the Double Red Duke we only accept card payments.

There is £30 corkage fee per bottle on wines, champagnes and sparkling wines. Please notify us prior to your dinner should you wish to bring own wines. This is only available at our restaurant or pub and isn’t available for private events.

Yes we do. These can only purchased online here.

We do add a discretionary 12.5% service charge to your bill, this is split equally between our staff however should you prefer to tip on the day feel free to ask for service charge to be removed.

To reserve a table of more than 7 people, please contact us directly on [email protected]

We have a limited availability of parking spaces on site, allocated on first come first basis. There is plenty of free on street parking availability just outside the pub.

Whilst our ground floor rooms are accessible by wheelchair, we are a listed building and so floors are uneven & there are often small steps, so unfortunately, we cannot say our rooms have full disabled access although we always try our best to help & accommodate any requirements. There is no lift.

Most dining areas are wheelchair accessible and we have a disabled bathroom on the ground floor.

Please notify us in advance of any requirements. Our team are on hand to offer any assistance necessary.

For bedroom reservations please contact us directly on 01367 810222.

For table reservations you are welcome to book online and note that you will be using a gift voucher toward your meal. Please make sure to present your voucher to our team upon arrival.

Yes, we are! We offer 3 family rooms suitable for families of up to 5.

Unfortunately, not all room types can accommodate an extra bed or cot so please do let us know at the time of booking. Baby cots are free of charge and there is a fee of £30 per night per child for an extra bed.

We offer children’s menu with plenty of options. Please make us aware of your children’s ages at the time of booking.

We have some dog friendly bedrooms, all located in our gorgeous barn annex. A charge of £25 per dog, per night will be added to your final bill. We provide a dog bed and bowl but ask that guests bring their own pet towels for muddy paws.

Well behaved dogs on leads are welcomed in our cosy bar, where they can join you for a meal. Due to the close proximity of tables, we do not allow dogs in our dining rooms or at the Chef’s Counter.

Please let us know at the time of booking if you are planning on bringing your four-legged friend with you so that suitable room and/or table can be allocated.

If you’re driving use the following post code on a SAT NAV: OX18 2RB (car park area).

Clanfield does not have its own train station, but you can travel to Oxford or Charlbury from London Paddington. It is then about 30 minutes’ drive from both stations to get to the Double Red Duke, transport pre bookings are advised as there is no taxi rank outside the station.

From London Marylebone you can also take a direct train to Oxford, it is then about 30 minutes’ drive with a taxi, there is a taxi rank outside Oxford train station so prebooking is not necessarily required.

We have preferred taxi companies that we use, however there is limited availability, advanced reservations are strongly recommended.

Yes, we offer a bouquet of seasonal flowers at £50 or you can pre order a bottle of wine, champagne or sparkling wine from our wine list. Please contact our reception on 01367 810222 should this be something you want to arrange.

Celebration cakes can be ordered from the local Blake’s Bakery directly, they will drop your cake off at our reception and we can either have this waiting in your room for arrival or present it at dinner or lunch time.

The lovely Shepherd’s Hut nested in our garden has been refurbished to offer a relaxing feel to anyone who is in need of a little pamper. We offer range of treatments [LINK: https://www.countrycreatures.com/double-red-duke/treatments]

These can only be booked directly on [email protected] or 01367 810222.

As we only have one treatment room/bed we can only offer a treatment to one person at the time.

Treatments are not suitable for anyone who may be pregnant, please make us aware of any allergies, injuries or recent surgeries at the time of booking. Once booked, there is 24-hour cancellation policy to keep in mind should your plans change.

Our guaranteed check-in time is from 3pm until 10pm on the day or arrival. Please be aware that the Double Red Duke will be closed from 11pm and we do not operate a late check in facility unless pre-authorised. Earlier check in may be possible at charge of £25, please make us aware of your desired time prior to your arrival.

All tables outside are on first come first served basis due to the inclement British weather, however if you reserve table inside, this will give you priority for outside space upon arrival.

We ask you to vacate all bedrooms by 11am on the day of your departure. Should you wish to check out at a later time, this must be arranged prior to your stay and may incur additional charges.

A continental breakfast is included in the cost of your booking. There is also a hot breakfast menu available for an additional charge that you can order from on the day. Breakfast is served in our restaurant area from 7.30am until 10am.
